UPDATE:  Three riders started the 100K, another wet and cold affair.  One of them had to bail when he was called in to work, the other two rode on to finish.

Homer End of the Road 9/12/15 and Palmer Backroads 9/26/15 RESULTS http://alaskarandonneurs.org/2015/09/homer-end-of-the-road-91215-and-palmer-backroads-92615-results/ Tue, 29 Sep 2015 04:56:28 +0000 http://alaskarandonneurs.org/?p=1925 Congratulations to our Homer End of the Road 200K finishers:
    Buzz – 9:34
    Karl – 12:45
    Martin – 9:41
    Tim – 12:45

Congratulations are also in order for a tenacious group of riders who decided to ride in Palmer this past Saturday. It was cold and wet all day, with temperatures hovering in the low to mid 40s. For the 100K we had a tandem duo, and they shredded the pavement:
    Jennifer M. – 3:54
    Paul – 3:54
For the 200K a trio started, and one of them had a flat less than five miles from Palmer. After repairing that and getting back under way they rode all over the Valley and, somehow, managed to keep their spirits high and continue pedaling away. One of them called it a day as they came back through Palmer on their way out to Knik River Road, but the other two powered on to the finish:
    Jennifer D. – 13:14
    Melissa – 13:14

We tip our cap to all who come out to ride!

Welcome! http://alaskarandonneurs.org/2015/09/welcome/ Wed, 16 Sep 2015 04:32:48 +0000 http://alaskarandonneurs.org/?p=1880 Hi, I'm Burney, the new RBA for Alaska Randonneurs.

The very first thing I want to do as RBA is personally invite each and every one of you to come out and ride with us.

We have three rides left for 2015:

    Palmer Backroads 100K/200K – September 26th

    Anchorage North 100K/200K – October 3rd

    Anchorage South 100/200 – October 17th

There is no way forward for Alaska Randonneurs that fails to recognize the enormous contribution to Alaska randonneuring made by our recently-retired RBA, Kevin.  There are so many countless hours spent behind the scenes making sure everything goes right–and making right the things that don't–and so much of it goes unseen and unappreciated.  Kevin, from the bottom of my heart, and on behalf of every Alaska randonneur (and all of those who have come to ride with us from Outside), THANK YOU!  We wish you the best, wherever life (and your bicycle) takes you.

    See you on the road,

    Burney

This weekend, we're bringing back an old favorite – The Eagle River 100K populaire and 200K brevet. The ongoing construction of the Eagle River Road out to the ER Nature Center has challenged us in creating a course that accomodates the proper riding distances along with great scenery and places to stop and refuel. We had to get a bit creative, but now we're certain you'll like what we've whipped up for you!  Come ride with us!
